Now that I have my hit points back

What I drank for lunch

Final Fantasy Potion hit stores today. I must admit that I was surprised by just how blue the bottle was. I pick it up and drank it down. The stuff tastes like medicine. There is also deluxe version that looks more like a potion bottle. I saw them earlier and think I might just have to pick one up. What a novel concept. Or course, being the energy drink that they are, I’m sure I will be bouncing off the walls this evening.

Oh, and speaking of Final Fantasy, it looks like XII is going to hit stores on the 16th here. I’ll have to pick myself up a copy. Though, at 8000yen, it might be worth waiting for a while. I’m not that much of a Final Fantasy Fanboy, am I?

XBOX 360? Yeah, we’ve got those

For those of you who think the Xbox 360  is sold out here in Japan, I am sad to say that is not the case. In fact, here in Senmaya our game store has around 6-8 systems remaining. To be perfectly honest, I’m not even sure they’ve sold a single system yet. It looks like microsoft botched up another Japanese release. I suppose they could just send them to desperate gamers in Canada and the US, but I have a feeling that just isn’t going to happen. I’ve already heard that they are starting to slash prices in order to move them out.

My new “Toy”

There is nothing better after a hard exam than spending a ton of money. So, after we wrote the Japanese exam, we went out to Yodobashi camera and bought some toys. Now, I have a nice shiny PSP. The white one looks so much like an apple product. I also picked up a copy of Lumines. It rocks my world.

The logistics of Bullshit

Tokyo Game Show 2005

So I went to the Tokyo Game show on the weekend. I can’t say I was as impressed as I was last year. Even though there were two new consoles to gaze upon, it just didn’t have the splendor that it did before.

Microsoft spared no expense with its video presentations and live demos. Sony on the other hand provided a large black room where you could watch about an hour of videos. I called this the wank room.I would have prefered a live machine, or anything. Instead, I got the wank room.

To sony’s credit, they had a pretty hopping PSP area. I got to sample Katamari Damashi for the PSP and I tried a new two player game that involves two people using the same PSP at the same time. Incredible. It involed monkeys of some sort.

All in all, the show was full of hype and expectations that most likely will never be met. I can’t say I’m that keen on going again in the future. Once should have been enough. I guess I’ve learned my lesson. Bullshit does indeed have quite a logistics division. In fact, it’s staggering. I would estimate it is now in the billions of dollars.

The Hatred Continues…

People and companies are going to great lengths to anger me these days. Let’s take Nintendo for example. They have the nerve to release a new portable game system, and refuse to release any decent games for it. Thank you, asshats! Oh, and let’s not forget Sony. You think you precious PSP is better? Yeah, I know all about your button issues. Well I’ve had enough. As a consumer, I believe I’m guaranteed a certain assurance of quality. I put away some money to purchase either one or the other. But I’m so angry now, that I’ve decided that neither company is worth my time. In revenge, I just up and donated every cent to the Tsunami relief fund. Yeah, you heard me! You’ll never get that money now! You had your chance.

I’ve been burned pretty bad this winter. In spite of this, I’ve devised a way to heal those burns. Anytime a business or person slights me in anyway, I’m going to take the money that I would have invested in them and just dump it in some random Red Cross relief effort. That will teach them! Bastards!

I have become a gamer!

Since coming to Japan, I’ve realized just how much I love board games. I really love ‘The Settlers of Catan’. The strategy is deep and it can be finished in under three hours. If you happen to go to Japan for a couple of years, find a group of friends and play this game. It’s my prescription for what ails you. Click on the picture to see more of our intense gaming night.

I’m now back from The Tokyo Game show. I took a lot of pictures. You can check most of them out by clicking on the picture to the right. Also, I have a slide show of all of them available on my flickr page as well.
It was one of the most exciting events I’ve ever been to. It left me quite exhausted though.
