Since coming to Japan, I’ve realized just how much I love board games. I really love ‘The Settlers of Catan’. The strategy is deep and it can be finished in under three hours. If you happen to go to Japan for a couple of years, find a group of friends and play this game. It’s my prescription for what ails you. Click on the picture to see more of our intense gaming night.

This is my new project. Every week, I will bring you a crazy new Japanese poster. They are all over the place here. Many of them don’t really make much sense. This one is odd, and I’m trying to get some more info on it. It says, “Let’s protect our public buildings from major disasters.” on the bottom. I’m not quite sure how they intend on achieving this. There are a number of dates on the bottom right side. I’m taking it that Wakaba is the name of the Cheerleader. But what do I know. Speculation is far more interesting than what is actually on there. If you can fill me in on more, feel free to comment.
It seems that even Duran Duran are getting old. In an unexpected twist of fate, drummer Roger Taylor has some sort of foot ailment. His doctor has recommended that he stay off it for a few weeks. Therefore, it seems that their Japan leg of the world tour has been postponed. I just heard about this today, and we had to go and cancelled our bus tickets. We are also getting a refund on our concert tickets. It’s not a perfect day today. In other news, I am dismantling my Japanese blog(not this one, but the one I tried to use for Japanese practice) and am creating a new one for my weekly volunteer English class at the community center. I will record some of the things that we do, and give my students a place to catch up our their studying.
I’m going down to Tokyo this weekend for the most awesome of reasons! I have tickets to see Duran Duran! And if my friend Greg is correct, we will have tickets close to the front of the stage. Does life get any better than this? I’ll let everyone know about the concert when I get back on sunday.
Steve, you’re so dreamy. Why, with those big eyes and that dark turtle neck sweater, I could just mac you all night. But, please be gentle, okay? It’s my first time. Tee Hee.
When it comes to progressive, nothing beats the BBC. In fact, I was quite amused by this little page they had. Check it out here. Great puberty info for teens. I wish I’d had that info when I was younger. I want to thank my friend Dan for sending me that link. In other news, the snow keeps falling, and just won’t stop. Le sigh. Le sigh. Someday, Japan will be tropical again. Someday!
I set myself a strange goal this Year. You see, I bought a car back in September and I’ve noticed that the amount of walking and running I do has decreased. I’ve also started eating fattier foods than I’m used to. What does this translate into? Yes, that’s right. Jason is starting to gain weight again. Not good. So what’s I’ve done is set myself a goal this year. I purchased a pedometer and have decided to get at least 10000 step a day. More would be better, but 10000 is the bare minimum for my goals. You’d think this would be an easy task; However, after 7 days I’ve achieved less than half of that. That’s going to change though. As of yesterday, I’ve pledged to do whatever it takes to get those remaining steps. I’ll walk around in circles in need be. Last night, I ended up taking an hour long walk because I was 7000 steps away. Towards the end of the night, I still needed 500 more and I only had 10 minutes to take them. I ended up running around my parking lot for 10 minutes. I squeezed through with 10085 steps. Today isn’t looking any better, but I’m going for a run right after work. I have to prevent weight gain at all costs. I’m just starting to look cute again! My biggest goal in coming to Japan was to enhance myself, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to go back on that promise.
Today is a big day. Today is the day I signed a contract for a third and final year on the JET programme. That might seem like a long time, but it’s not. The months have gone by like days, and many of my objectives are far from complete. I’m thinking I might need to find another way to lengthen my time here in Japan. We’ll see about that. For now, I’m here at least three years.
Speaking of which. This is now of good opportunity for you to come and visit me here. I will show you around, give you free accommodation, and best of all, treat you to many a free dinner. The choice is yours. I suggest you consider here.
Before I wrap up my blog for today, I’d like to ask you out there about how much you enjoy reading this blog. Is there anything you would like to see more of? I can talk about food, trains, culture, language and history. Just name it.
